I know it's summer but has anyone ever seen a Snowman Christmas tree topper?

No but I made my own with a Ken doll and I call it Kenny Angel.

For More Snowman Christmas Info Click On The Blue Links Below

This project used snowman and snowflake gel clings, and can be displayed alone or grouped together in 3’s using other glass vases of various heights. Showcase your beautiful Christmas vase or vases on a fireplace mantel, bookcase, or coffee table, or perhaps on a dining room table as a centerpiece.

Begin by adhering snowman and snow flake gel clings to the outside of your glass vase. Be sure to space the gel clings evenly around the vase. Next, begin layering the inside of the vase starting with snow flurries, then use bright white blanket snow towards the top, leaving 3 inches of un-layered space .

Supplies:

Tall glass vase (if you don’t already have one, thrift stores sell all different sizes and shapes for just pennies.

1 Package of Gel Decorations, AKA “Gel Clings” - Blue snowman and blue snowflakes. If using a few vases, I would recommend doing one vase all in snowmen and the other vases in snow flakes for more visual interest.

1 Package of blanket Snow, bright white

1 Package of Snow Flurries (not to be confused with snow flakes, which are bigger and look more like shredded paper. Snow flurries have more of a grainy appearance.)

Please note that gel decorations are removable and reusable. Do not expose to high heat or direct sunlight on hot days, sticker can melt. You have finished. When the holidays are over, you can keep your Christmas decorating project intact by stuffing a wad of newspaper in to the top of the vase, placing a small paper or plastic bag over the top and rubbing banding it to keep all contents in place. Then, just pack it away carefully for the next year.

When it comes to decorating your Christmas tree, always make sure that you have chosen elegant Christmas tree toppers. There are many ways in which you can decorate your tree with Christmas tree toppers to give them an elegant, cheerful, and colorful look.

Since these pieces will be the finishing touches of your tree, you should choose something that has a lot of meaning. They can include a Santa, snowflakes, snowman, a star of an angel. Angels are most commonly used as Christmas tree toppers because they are special. However, these days, people like to go with a theme for Christmas.

They have a theme for decoration as well. These can either be color theme, design, pattern, material and so on. Previously, people used to stick to red and green for Christmas. These days, if the theme is gold and silver, they will use only these colors for decorating the tree and the house. These days, people don’t feel the need to use standard toppers for their tree. Although toppers are an essentiality that adds elegance, charm and attractiveness to the tree, they can come in different forms, shapes and sizes.

Some people even choose to craft them out of materials available at home. They use cardboard material and make shapes out of them. They then use foil paper, colored, gold, silver or patterned to wrap this shape up. These produce very good hand made decorations which can be used on the tree top and also for other decorations.

Nowadays, toppers are available with music and blink as well. They have fiber optic diodes that make them glow. These are definitely exclusive pieces which you should use to create a welcoming, cheerful and playful atmosphere.

The addition of the Topper on the Christmas Tree is like putting icing on a cake. They add just the right finishing touch and enable you to step back, view your work, take a deep breath, sigh and know your job is done for this season. Christmas Tree Toppers come in all sizes, types and shapes from stars of all kinds to angels to gorgeous ribbon creations. In this article I want to focus on Angel Tree Toppers and Santa Tree Toppers.

Fiber Optic Angel Tree Toppers.

Fiber Optic Angels are very beautiful. Their wings come in several shapes and styles. Some Angel wings are a solid material that looks like bamboo and has the fiber optic filaments running through. There are others where the wings are an iridescent Mylar material nestled among fiber optic filaments. Then there are what I believe to be the most beautiful. These have clusters of many, many fiber optic filaments that are used to create a shape or design for the wings and then more loose fiber optic filaments are sprayed across the front of the wings. This creates the most beautiful affects from the fiber optics. These Angels have an adapter that powers the fiber optics. Sometimes the adapter can be a little heavy but can usually be taped to the center pole or trunk of the tree.

Lighted Angel Toppers.

This type of Angel Topper usually carries a mini light candle in one or both of her hands and has more mini lights around the bottom of the base under her gown. These mini lights are the same type of light used to light your Christmas tree. Usually the manufacturer will put a cover, like an acrylic star, over the top of the mini light in each of the Angels hands. This type of Angel Topper has no adapter and will easily plug into the top section of any Christmas tree. There are also Small Lighted Angel Toppers that have a pigtail light cord that allows you to remove a mini tree light bulb from the socket in your Christmas tree and replace it with the pigtail connection. Then every time you turn your Christmas tree lights on the Angel will light up as well. These types of Angels usually only have one mini light that they hold in their hands in front of them.

Animated Angel Toppers.

Animated Angels are very beautiful and can be Fiber Optic with animation, lighted and animated or animated with no lights at all. The animation includes very soft, gentle movements. Basically the wings move forward and back. The arms open and close and the head and torso move in a gentle circle to either the left or right. Sometimes the head will bow down a bit as the Angel moves forward. I have noticed a noise with these Angels. The Animated Angels with Fiber Optic wings will hum and bit and the Angels with feather wings may click as the wings go forward or back. One thing I have learned is never to pick one up by the head, arms or wings and especially not when the Angel is plugged in.

Angel Toppers.

Most Angel Toppers are exquisitely dressed. The fabrics are very gorgeous. They are made from polyester fabrics but have the look and feel of silk or damask and brocade. They will usually have porcelain heads and hands. The difference will come in the hair. Up to now Angel Toppers heads have been completely porcelain, including the hair. Now there are very exquisitely beautiful Angel Toppers with curly doll hair. I have also noticed that the color of the Angels hair is getting a little darker every year. They are not always blonde anymore.

Santa Toppers.

There is nothing like a Santa Christmas Tree Topper. These can range in size from 12 to 20 inches and taller. There are Traditional Santa style Toppers and there are Father Christmas style Toppers. Some have fiber optic filaments in their beards or in the greenery they may be holding. Others can have lights around the base illuminating their robes or they can come completely unlit. All of them will have a long white beard and mustache and will usually carry a pack of toys or gifts. As with the Angels the fabrics used for Santa and Father Christmas Toppers are absolutely gorgeous. I especially like the poly damask coats and the poly dupioni robes.

You do not have to be the design guru to create a Christmas tree worthy of a display window. Just follow these general guidelines to give your tree maximum impact this year.

A complete tree traditionally is composed of lights, garland, trim, and ornaments, arranged in that order. Add a tree skirt for a finishing touch. It is customary to add the topper last, although this is mostly for ceremonial purposes.

Lights

Thread lights from the base of the tree to the tip, and the inside branches to the outward ones. For trees taller than 4 feet, use up to 100 small twinkling lights per foot. Trees 2-3 feet tall need 35-80 lights. If you prefer to use the larger C-7 or C-9 bulbs, multiply the height of your tree by its dimension. For trees up to 7 feet divide this number in half. Divide by 3 for trees over 7 feet. Check the packaging of C-7 and C-9 bulbs, since not all brands have been approved to use with artificial trees.

Exercise caution when using strings of lights end-to-end. As a general rule, do not hook more than 3 sets of lights together, as doing so can overload the circuits and blow the fuses. Some commercial grade sets are safe to hook up to six sets. Hook together only strings of the same lights; for example, never hook a string miniature twinkling lights to a line of C-7 bulbs. This is also true when hooking your tree topper to the light sets. Use a 3 outlet cord instead. Discard any damaged light sets or decorations and turn everything off when you go to bed for the night!

Garland

Garlands can be made of tinsel or beads, and some ambitious revelers still make their own garlands out of popcorn, cranberries, and/or linked paper. Ribbons of various widths, styles, and colors also make fabulous garlands. Hung in large loops, garland adds drama to your tree, although how you drape your garland is a matter of taste and sometimes depends on the size of your tree. (Large loops can look silly on a smaller tree.) Nowadays you can also string garland vertically, by securing it at the top and looping downward. Experiment to see what looks best. Garlands may slip, particularly if the tree is delicate or droopy. To keep them in place, wind the garlands around the branches or secure with ribbons or wire.

You will probably need about 10 feet of garland per foot of tree. Any extra garland can be used to decorate around the house, and is particularly lovely used on the mantle or in wreaths. You may use up to three different types of garland, but make sure these coordinate with each other.

Ornaments

Whether you have hundreds of one-of-a-kind collectibles, or a box of shabby hand-me-downs, your tree can look fabulous if you hang your ornaments well. First, create depth and interest by hanging some ornaments on the inside branches. Use plain or inexpensive ornaments for this, using the outside branches to showcase collectibles, if you have them. If you are still building up your collection, shoot for 10 special themed ornaments per every 2 feet of tree. Hang similar ornaments in a group, taking care not to crowd them, but keep them together for maximum impact. You really can’t have too many ornaments, the key is in the spacing.

A word about metal hooks: save them for fishing! Instead, use loops of ribbon, raffia, or cord to hang ornaments. These can be a unifying factor if your ornaments don’t all match, and are much lovelier and easier to handle than metal hooks.

Skirt, Trim and Toppers

This would include tinsel, bows, or whatever else you want to throw on your tree. Trim can be used to tie together different types of ornaments, but it’s completely optional. Whatever you do, don’t spoil your tree by drowning it in trim. Use a little for enhancement. As far as the skirt goes, it should be big enough to cover the stand, but not bigger than the average branches. Add some wrapped presents and you are ready to go!

The most common toppers are stars, angels, and finials, but these days you can use almost anything to top your tree. A big bow that matches the garland would be a fine example of a tree topper. Your tree topper is a significant piece, so choose wisely!
