For More Cane Christmas Ornament Info Click On The Blue Links Below

Christmas customs are not homogenous all over the world, but among the most popular ones we can surely find exchanging of gifts, kissing under the mistletoe, decorating the Christmas tree and other indoor and outdoor Christmas decorations and Christmas ornaments. But while preparing your house for the holiday season you should not forget to pay attention to the basic idea of Christmas: spending quality time with your families and friends and thinking about the baby Jesus’ birth. Your soul must be prepared too for holidays!

All your Christmas decorations must have a magical spirit and must reflect your warm and tender feelings about this holy time of the year. You should search for new ideas every year so your Christmas ornaments will get the maximum appreciation, as many of your relatives and friends will visit you during this white season.

In order to create an intimate and warm atmosphere in your house, you can place colourful ribbons or bows on your curtains, chairs or door handles. You can add a touch of joy by using different colours instead of the usual green, red and white. But you can also choose a theme for your Christmas decorations, using only a colour or two. For a better effect, the tableware can follow the same pattern. The holiday garlands, the window candles and the lights on the front windows can also contribute to the charm of the decoration. You may be sure that your children will feel very enthusiastic about creating Christmas ornaments from coloured paper or other materials and this will stimulate their creativity.

The Christmas tree is perhaps the most important of all Christmas decorations. It can be real or made of plastic; it can be in miniature or tall. All that matters is what it stands for: a celebration of God and Jesus, a manifestation of joy and appreciation, a period when everyone tries to be a better person. The way one chooses Christmas ornaments is rather important for everyone because they can show the large variety of feelings related to this magic time. Children are the ones that dream most about the candy canes, stars, bells, toys, socks, little snowmen, Santa Clause hats hung in the Christmas tree. They dream more than adults and they probably even feel more during this period. So pay special attention to the star or the fairy on the top of the tree: it will be noticed (by everyone, not just your children) for sure! And do not forget to buy electric flashing lights, white or coloured, to make your tree look more animated!

Your children and the carol singers will love some suitable for eating Christmas ornaments. Chocolate coins or homemade cookies with a coloured, silver or gold wrapping will look delicious while sparkling in the tree and will tempt the guests of all ages! The same effect will be produced by other important Christmas ornaments - of the table - : the Christmas cakes, which you can cook and even decorate according to your imagination.

You should also think about some interesting and elegant Christmas decorations for your living room table: white glittery pinecones, little snowmen, white doves, white or coloured berries and flowers, silver bells, angels and anything that makes you feel happy. Everything can be sprayed with snow, giving only a little light dusting or making it look like a heavy snowfall, upon your personal taste.

Speaking about outdoor Christmas decorations, you might even enjoy a banner to tell everybody how happy you are about the holiday season, to wish them ‘Merry Christmas!’ or to make sure that Santa will not pass by your house. For many families it is very important to decorate their homes with strings of lights, which can have many shapes and sizes and seem to be the most popular outdoor Christmas ornaments. There are also dangling lights which resemble Santa Claus, snowmen, angels or icicles. There’s no limit to how you can show your joy regarding the Christmas time.

In the past, all that people used was a wreath of holly on the door, but now we can see Santa climbing up the roofs, fake snow on all the windows or even a pre-made figure or statue with lighting capabilities. (This can take the shape of Santa, a cartoon character, a religious figure or can even represent a biblical scene.) Many people manufacture their own decorations instead of buying them or look for exclusive products to make their house the most admired in the neighbourhood. For them as well as for us, the spirit of Christmas has to light everyone’s hearts and they do the best they can to bring a smile on their neighbour’s faces.

For More Santa Ornament Info Click On The Blue Links Below

The entire world waits with excitement for the Christmas season since it is the sign that this year is almost over and the New Year is just around the corner. A lot of people over the world start celebrating the festive season from the first day of December, or even earlier if you go be the displays in the department stores.

The Christmas cake, the Christmas tree, the Christmas decorations and most importantly, Santa Claus, are some of the things we are instantly reminded of every time we think of Christmas. Not only those, wreaths and stars are also inseparable from Christmas.

Everyone from small children to old people start getting busy planning for Christmas some time before the big day It does not have to be a lavish celebration for everyone. It is a time to be together with the family and simple cozy celebrations are also nice, with people having a simple Christmas tree and decorating it with some ornaments and a star.

Christmas decorations can be done both indoors and outdoors or both together. Most people use the Santa Christmas scene, snowmen and white snow as themes to brighten up their indoors decorations, all centered around the tree.

You can choose a Christmas tree according to your budget since there is one to suit everyone's pocket. They are generally decorated with swirls, ornaments, garlands, bells, stars and pine cones. To make it seem more like a 'real' Christmas tree, fake snowflakes are often sprinkled on the tree. If you cannot get these fake snowflakes, you can also use cotton swabs in their place. However, do not use too many accessories in the Christmas tree if you display it in a small room.

The Christmas garland can be fixed to the tree using polyester or velvet Christmas bows. This makes the garland look neat and pretty wherever it is attached. Stars traditionally symbolize Christ's birth and are available in a variety of sizes and colors. A lot of different kinds of Christmas wreaths are also available, including giant wreaths to go on the front door.

There are also animated decorations available in the markets which are appreciated by everyone, especially kids. You could get yourself a waving Santa, horse and carriage, riverboats, twinkling stars, or even a collectible animated ornament.

Good indoor lighting can make all the decorations look even better. Thus, invest in some good lights to brighten the festivities. Get yourself light strings, light bulbs, LEDs, mini lights and other popular Christmas lights to make your home look even nicer.

You could also try being innovative with the Christmas tree by getting a wrought iron tree this year. They are classy and come in various sizes, shapes and colors, which means you can get one to match your decor and other Christmas decorations. These trees are available in colors other than black and dark gray. You can also get wrought iron stocking hooks and wrought iron stocking holders, which also come in different sizes and shapes. Wrought iron can also be used to decorate the hooks and holders such as with traditional Christmas symbols and characters such as a snowman, a candy cane, a Santa Claus, reindeer, stars, snowflakes, wreaths, gingerbread men, nativity scenes, an angel, as well as the Christmas tree.

For many of us, Christmas is the most celebrated and cherished time of the year. We dream about it months before the 25th of December and we try to anticipate the way we’ll spend this magic period. In order to make the most of it, we have to choose the best Christmas decorations (the most glamorous and eye catching Christmas ornaments), the most attractive Christmas tree and to be surrounded by our family and friends.

We all seem to be perfectionists when it comes to Christmas decorations. It’s understandable, since we wait for an entire year to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to enjoy the reunion of our family. But the best herald of this holy time of the year remains the Christmas tree. It’s around it where we share stories and laugh and open Santa’s presents.

The origins of the Christmas tree are not known for sure, but they date since ancient times and are connected to religious rituals. The practice of adorning it seems to have started during the 1500s, when an evergreen was associated with the Mother of Jesus and was decorated with roses as Christmas ornaments. A period when the Christmas decorations were represented only by nuts, pretzels, raisins and cookies followed. Then the glass balls appeared and gradually they were replaced by today’s plastic tree ornaments, like bells, toys, stars, candy canes, socks, Santa Claus hats and little snowmen.

The first thing to have in mind when searching for a Christmas tree is whether you prefer a real or a fake one. There are some advantages and disadvantages: the real one is very beautiful and smells like winter and forest, but it can make a mess of needles on your floor if it isn’t a special type of fir (evergreen) or if it wasn’t treated with special chemicals; the fake one will look realistic enough when we arrange its branches, but it will not fool anyone.

The finishing note for the tree is represented by the Christmas ornaments. No matter what you choose, how you decide to adorn it, your tree should say something about you and your family. You may choose a religious theme or a modern one. You may choose only white, red, silver, gold or other fancy colourful Christmas decorations. You don’t even have to spend a lot of money to have beautiful and unique Christmas ornaments for the Christmas tree. You can make a lot of them together with your family, in order to give your celebration a personal touch. Children especially are very enthusiastic about manufacturing all kinds of Christmas ornaments by themselves, using materials like white or coloured paper. Snowflakes are one of the simplest Christmas decorations to be made. This will develop their imagination and their skills and you will have less work to do by yourself.

The Christmas ornaments in chief position may be represented by the stars or the fairies on the top of the tree. We have many options for that too, since the specialised stores provide us with endless ideas. Other Christmas decorations that should not be forgotten are the lights. Originally people used candles for this purpose, but they’ve proven to be dangerous (a source for unwanted accidets), so now everybody buys electric lights which flash and even play Christmas carols. We certainly don’t want any Christmas ornaments to fall down from the tree, so it would be recommended to fasten them carefully.

No matter which Christmas story pleases us, about Jesus or about Santa, about angels or about reindeers, we should not forget to tell it to our children during Christmas Eve. This will create a magic atmosphere and, together with the Christmas decorations so carefully chosen, will make us all feel the peace of Christmas in our souls.

Nowadays we have a lot of choices for adorning our houses and our Christmas tree, but no matter what Christmas decorations and Christmas ornaments we use, we are not allowed to forget that Christmas is about joy, gifts, family reunions, friends and maybe about counting the blessings in our lives. After all, Jesus was born this day for our resurrection.

Hi, I'm looking for a new idea to hang my Christmas cards this year. I don't want to put them on the fireplace or fridge....again..... I'd like to try something new and original, something crafty. Any suggestions?

I like the "laundry line" look--tie a ribbon or piece of string across a wall, and get those tiny clothes pins from the craft store to attach your cards to it. Very cute!

For More Christmas Cards Info Click On The Blue Links Below

I long for the moment when Christmas was more about spending time with friends, family and loved ones and less about fussing over finding the ideal gift; when little handmade tokens were more important than a department store gift card. Just call me schmaltzy, but my much loved part of Christmas is getting together with friends to bake cookies, spending time with the children coloring Santa Claus pictures and planning up of any Christmas crafts that I can think of.

Being said all that, I have come up with a few grand Christmas card ideas, making use of card templates and stencils. Usually, you can use Christmas stencils the standard way and paint the picture onto a card, however there are a lot of other ways to use stencils. I took some stencils from my collections and delved into just how many ideas I could come up with using them to adorn Christmas cards.

Let's begin with the fundamentals of card making and then move ahead to the creative ideas. Cut a sheet of colored construction paper down to a 6x8 inch rectangle. Fold it in half to make a 4x6 inch card.

Idea #1. Find a Christmas stencil that you like at your local craft store or on-line. They come as plastic pre-cut stencils all set for painting or printable stencils that you can come across on the internet or in book format. Each category has advantages and disadvantages. The pre-cut stencils are all set. They are also more costly. The printable stencils still has to be cut out. However, they are inexpensive and oftentimes free.

Idea #2. The most fundamental technique to use a stencil in card making is with paint. Just lay your stencil on the front portion of the card. You can tape it down or hold it in place. Use up and down movement with a stencil brush to apply paint in the stencil hole. The stippling technique is done to prevent paint from seeping beneath the ends of the stencil openings.

Idea #3. There is also a grand way to use stencils as Christmas card templates. Mark out the holes of the stencil onto colored paper, cut it out and glue to the front of the card.

Idea #4. If you found a fine printable stencil, you can get rid of the steps of cutting out the stencil hole and tracing the image onto the paper. Just lay down the paper with the stencil on top of the colored paper and slice along the lines using a craft knife. Push down tightly to cut through both paper. Make sure that both pages stay together as you cut it. Glue the figure to the front part of the card.

I know that you can come up with a lot of other creative Christmas card ideas. In the end, it's that special touch that you are aiming for, right? Don't forget that eventually the Grinch found out that Christmas was something that comes straight from the heart!

Why are Liberal school teachers and principals in so many States trying to outlaw Christmas tree ornaments?

Along with Santa Claus candies and candy cane, saying it goes against their beliefs, seeing they are Atheists, and some of their students are Atheist,
do they have the right to take the fun part of Christmas away from the kids,?
And they won't allow saying Merry Christmas, you are supposed to say Happy Holy days,
Is that not going against the amendment of free speech?
Many of the parents are outraged, can they sue the schools as they are planning to do?

secular atheistic statism,,they are tax coveting , antireligious grinches

Nearly everyone in the western world either owns an artificial Christmas tree or ventures out to purchase a real fir tree every Christmas period. Parents and children alike all love to decorate the tree with ornaments. Originally the traditional Christmas tree ornaments consisted of dried cranberries, popcorn, lollies and candles but today the typical Christmas tree has somewhat evolved and the ornaments that adorn our trees are somewhat different.

These days it is possible to purchase an enormous variety of decorations, with the subject being anything from a favorite hobby, television show, cartoon character or other unique topic. Many people spend lots of money on their Christmas tree ornaments and often collect extra ornaments to give to their children when they leave home. I know from my own experience that my three children all love the special Christmas Angel that we place on the top of our tree, and each and every one of them comments on how they would love to have this special ornament when they finally leave home. I expect that it would be impossible to find 3 of these Christmas Angel so they will be disappointed to hear that the one we have will be staying put.

Christmas Tree Ornaments Highlight Special Moments In Our Lives

Many Christmas tree ornaments, just like my own Christmas Angel, have special significance to heir owners, for example our favorite Christmas tree ornament is quite old and was originally made by my grandmother, however, these days it is possible to buy some quite sophisticated Christmas tree ornaments some of which can light up, play tunes and even move about.

There are many manufacturers of these beautiful products, some of which specialize in creating collectible Christmas tree ornaments. Each year they release another piece to add to the series. For many collectors this has proven to be a very lucrative pastime, particularly if you are able to predict which series of Christmas tree ornaments will be in demand in the future. An example of the increase in value of one series of Christmas tree ornaments was the very popular rocking horse series that began in the early 1980’s. The first rocking horse, issued in 1983 which cost less than ten dollars, is now being sold on ebay and other online auctions for up to US$500 each. The rest of the series does not attract those kinds of bids but are still sold well above their issue price.

Yard Sales Often Contain Treasures If You Know The Value Of Collectible Christmas Tree Ornaments

For many garage/yard sale and resale customers, their goal is to seek out antique and collector Christmas tree ornaments at estate and home sales across the country. Finding a “diamond in the rough†such as a Christmas tree ornament that “no one wants†for sale at the price of a few dimes can become a goldmine if you know its value on the resale market. For many collectors, it is just this type of motivation that moves them into buying and selling Christmas tree ornaments on the web.

So keep your eyes open the next time you go to a garage sale - you might just be lucky and find some unique and collectible Christmas tree ornaments for a few dollars and laugh all the way to the bank.

CHRISTMAS

Traditionally observed on December 25, Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus. Although some churches observe it on different dates, the fact is that the precise chronology of Jesus' birth and death is yet to be determined. Christmas has many sides to it, some religious and some secular, including the exchange of gifts, the Santa Claus myth, decoration and display of the Christmas tree, and religious ceremonies.

History

We can trace the origin of Christmas to several pagan holidays. It was since AD 354 that the christians in the West started celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ on December 25, replacing an earlier date of January 6. By that time, the christians had appropriated several pagan festivals and traditions of the season that were practiced in many parts of the Middle East and Europe, as a means of stamping them out. Among those festivals were Saturnalia of the Romans, the birth celebrations of sun - God Attis in Phrygia (December 25) and Persian sun - God Mithras (December 17-24).

The Nativity

The Nativity refers to the birth of Jesus Christ. The christians celebrate Christmas by remembering or re-creating the Nativity. While the Eastern Orthodox Church practices the Nativity Fast in anticipation of the birth of Jesus, the Western Church mostly prefers celebrating Advent. Children often enact the events of the Nativity, or sing some of the numerous Christmas carols that reference the event. Some christians display a small re-creation of the Nativity in their homes, using small figurines to portray the key characters.

Santa Claus

In Western culture, a main feature of Christmas is the exchange of gifts among friends and family members, some of them being attributed to Santa Claus. Santa Claus is also known by other names, such as Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle, Saint Basil and Father Frost. Santa Claus is based on the tale about Saint Nicholas, or Sinterklaas, who gave gifts on the eve of his feast day of December 6. He became associated with Christmas in 19th century America and was renamed Santa Claus or Saint Nick. In Britain and France too, Father Christmas and Pere Noel respectively were made to adopt the Santa image.

Christmas tree

The Christmas tree owes its origin to the ancient pagan idea, later appropriated by the christians, that the evergreen tree represents a celebration of the renewal of life. Christmas trees first became popular in Germany in the late 18th century. Christmas trees may be decorated with lights and ornaments. The poinsettia then became associated with Christmas, while other popular holiday plants include holly, mistletoe, red amaryllis, and Christmas cactus. In some parts of the world, it is traditional to decorate the outside of houses with lights and sometimes with illuminated sleighs, snowmen, and other Christmas figures. Town authorities also hang Christmas banners from street lights and place Christmas trees in the town square.

Feasts and cards

A special meal of Christmas dishes is usually served on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve. Another extremely popular tradition is to send Christmas cards to friends and family members. Cards can also be produced with messages such as "Season's Greetings" or "Happy Holidays", to include senders and recipients who may not celebrate Christmas.

Just about everyone in the world knows that jolly toy-bearing Christmas figure from the North Pole, but how much do we really know about him?

The character we all love so much was actually created by mixing together several ingredients including the memory of an important Christian saint, the practices of North European Shamans, and the marketing wits of an all American mega brand.

Here are a few quick trivia questions about our beloved Santa, brought to you by http://www.247trivia.com

Q: Where does the name Santa Claus come from?

A: The name Santa Claus was derived from Sinterklaas, the Dutch term for the ancient Christian figure of Saint Nicholas who was famous for his generosity to the poor (more about him later). The Dutch immigrants to America imported their gift-giving saint to New Amsterdam where he merged with his British counterpart, Father Christmas, to become America's own Santa Claus.

Q: everyone knows that Santa lives in the North Pole, but where is the real St. Nicholas from?

A: St. Nicholas who many consider to be the inspiration for modern Santa Claus was born in Patara around 275AD. Patara is located in present day Turkey, on the Southern Mediterranean coast in what is today an international tourist resort area where visitors spend hours basking in the warm Mediterranean sun. Certainly not a place you would want to be wearing fur coats in.

Q: If you really wanted to find St. Nicholas today, where would you go looking?

A: You may enjoy a trip to the North Pole, but if you really want to honor St. Nicholas, you would do better by heading towards Italy, where the remains of St. Nicholas are stored in the basilica of St. Nicola in the city of Bari. They have been there since the 11 century when they were, uh… borrowed… from their previous resting place in Myra in present day Turkey.

Q: Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and his companions take Santa on his rounds completely airborne. How is it that reindeer can fly?

A: Many people believe that the tale of flying reindeers (as well as other parts of the Santa story), originates from Lapland in modern day Finland. Some say that in Lapland, reindeer had a habit of seeking out the hallucinogenic amanita mushrooms which they ate and then would prance around while under their influence. As these mushrooms are quite toxic, it was regular practice for local shamans to drink the urine of tripping reindeer for a "safe high" and then "fly" together with them.

This could also explain the general cheerful disposition (with the "ho ho ho" and all), and the flushed red cheeks of today's Santa.

Q: Where did Santa get his unique outfit?

A: While it's no secret that the marketing people of Coca Cola have a lot to do with the modern image of Santa, some say the roots go way back. The same North European Shamans that liked to consume those red and white mushrooms with their reindeers used to wear quite a similar outfit when they went out to collect their pickings – red and white fur trimmed coats with long black boots. As implied above, it's quite certain that St. Nicholas was no inspiration for this outfit, as he lived in sunny south Turkey.

Q: Who was the first to create Santa's modern image?

A: Coca Cola still uses the iconic images of Santa which were hugely successful in the 30s, and created for it by the gifted artist Haddon Sundblom, an American of Swedish origin (does Northern Europe ring any bells here?). However the modern image of Santa was only finally standardized in his works, but had actually been developing for years before. Coca Cola wasn't even the first beverage company to make commercial use of every child's jolly toy bearing hero – a company called White Rock beverages used him to sell ginger ale and mineral water as early as 1915. However earlier versions wore a wide variety of colors. Coca Cola's Santa is the one the finally set the record straight, and since then Santa has been wearing nothing but Red and White.

Any ideas for homemade Christmas Party Decorations?

Snowmen-Buy different sized styrofoam balls. Hot glue them together and then add a hat, nose, eyes, buttons, and stick arms to make snowmen and set them around the house.

We bring trees inside and decorate them. We eat ham, turkey or beef, we kiss under mistletoe and give each other presents. But why, and where do these traditions come from? In part one of a new series examining Christmas traditions, we look at some of these traditions to uncover why they exist today.

Yule Logs and Fairy Lights

Many families enjoy a chocolate cake at Christmas time, often made in the shape of a log, and known as a Yule Log. (In Devon and Somerset in England, the Yule log was also known as a Great Ashen Faggot). Originally a Yule log was a tree branch, usually oak for its properties of slow burning with great heat.

When the log fire expired, a piece of the log was kept for luck and as kindling to start the next Yule fire. Red candles are often placed along the a Yule cake to represent flames. The candles moved to the Christmas tree, but have now been surpassed by fairy lights.

Christmas Stars

It is a common practice to place a large star at the top of a Christmas Tree. Some believe it represents the light of the sun, however a more common interpretation is that it is a symbolic representation of the nativity star that guided the three wise men to baby Jesus.

Kissing under the Mistletoe

Mistletoe is a semi-parasitic plant that commonly grows on deciduous trees. It has leathery evergreen leaves and waxy white berries. It was often combined with other evergreens to create "kissing bushes" that were hung in rooms where people would frequently pass each other. Young men had the privilege of kissing girls if they both passed beneath the bush. A berry would be plucked from the bush for each encounter, and when all the berries were picked, the privilege ended.

The Romans, Celts and Greeks believed Mistletoe had magical qualities, often placing it in water to ensure the fertility of cattle. Yet the kissing custom originates from a Norse myth, concerning the goddess Frigg and her love for her son Balder.

It appears Frigg was an overprotective mother, and from her fear that harm would come to her son, she secured promises from everything in the world that they would never harm her son. Everything, except a little mistletoe bush which she deemed too young to make such a pledge.

Loki, a trickster, discovered this loophole and fashioned an arrow from a mistletoe branch which he gave to Hod, Balder's sightless brother. Loki then guided Hod's bow hand and the arrow pierced Balder's heart, killing him.

The distraught and outraged Frigg banished mistletoe to the tree tops. The gods duly brought Balder back to life and Frigg was so overjoyed that she made mistletoe the symbol of love.

Meanwhile the Druids believed that mistletoe fell from heaven and grew onto a tree that sprang from Earth. It therefore signified a connection between heaven and Earth and God's reconciliation with humanity. A kiss under mistletoe thereby symbolized acceptance and reconciliation.

Christmas Ham

The Christmas Ham is again thought to have come from a Norse pagan tradition of yuletide celebration. The sacrifice of a boar in Freyr's honour was hoped to bring his favour for the new year. Freyr was often associated with weather, fertility and agriculture.

Mince Pies and Christmas Pudding

Recipes for Christmas pudding can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Pheasant, rabbit, poultry and partridge were common ingredients. Primarily, it was a method for preserving meat. Because of a shortage of fodder, most livestock were slaughtered at the end of a season. Dried fruits were added to the mixture as a preservative and the mixture was kept in pastry cases and the results were called mince pies. Over time, sugar, apples, raisins, candied oranges and lemons were added.

A closer relative to the modern Christmas pudding originated from the porridge, frumenty or pottage in the 14th century. Ingredients included beef, mutton, raisins, currents, spiced wine and mixed spices. These ingredients were slow cooked in a huge cauldron and it was a souplike dish consumed prior to celebrations.

Prunes were added to the recipe during the reign of Elizabeth 1. The dish became so popular, it was known as plum potage. By the18th century meat preservation techniques had improved and the sweet content of mince pies and plum pottage were increased. The addition of flour and suet to create a pudding as we recognise it today, did not appear until the 1830's.

In the next Christmas article, we will uncover the origins of the Christmas Tree and Santa Claus.

Brief History of Figurines:

Figurines or statues have been made by humans since the dawn of time. Ancient civilizations made figurines and statues of everything they could, from their kings to common people and from animals to a representation of their deity. These were made from materials that were readily available to the artisan, such as stone, wood or clay. As time went on and other materials were invented they too were used, things like porcelain, glass, metals and resin. Many of these ancient figurines can be seen in museums around the world. Today figurines are most often made of porcelain, glass, acrylic or a resin. These are found in homes, business, churches and in government offices. They are used as decorations, for religious observance, inspiration or to help us remember special events or people.

Collectible Santa Figurines:

Many children the world over believe in Santa Claus. Adults and children alike love Santa figurines as they seem to help bring the spirit of Christmas to everyones home. Father Christmas Musical Figurines are a perfect way to do this as they combine the look of Christmas with music of the season. There are fun figurines like the Cowboy Santa Bobble Head for those that enjoy a western type theme for their Christmas. For Santa figurines for the living room there is the popular Santa's Letters Clothtique Possible Dreams and for the children there is Santa with Electric Candle or the Sitting Santa Snow Globe. And then there are Large Illuminated Outdoor Santa Claus to help light up the front yard.

Guardian Angel Figurines:

In 2004, 78 percent of Americans said that they believe in the existence of angels, according to a Gallup poll. Many people of different religions believe that angels are beings sent from God to help humans and in some cases to be a guardian for them for a time. There are many angel figurines such as Guardian Angel with Sheep, for children the Sweet Angel Figurine Bell, as part of a nativity arrangement 5 Inch Standing Angel Nativity and for simple display the Table Top Angel Holding A Clarinet.

Other Christmas Figurines:

Now at Christmas time its not just Santa and Angels there many other figurines that can be displayed to brighten the home and help bring that Christmas spirit in, some can even be left out longer than just at Christmas. There is a beautiful Reindeer Pulling Victorian Sleigh, or for the classical Santa there is Coca Cola Christmas Santa Claus Ornaments, or even for the little larger sets 23 Inch Chapel Micah The Nativity Shepherd. When decorating your home there are many figurines or small statues that can be used to bring out the season.

Snowman Christmas Figurine:

Another popular Christmas figurine is that of a snowman. Back in the middle ages people use to make snowmen when new snow fell, a practice still done today. In the northern hemisphere snowfall is often an indication of the coming Christmas season. There are a variety of snowmen figurines like the Acrylic Lighted Snowman Figurine, or the Whimsical Snowman Porcelain Figurine. For children there is the Snowman Holding Electric Candle which can also double as a nightlight. And for those families with yards there is a Large Outdoor Illuminated Snowman Family.

Christmas is an annual holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ almighty. Christmas festivities often combine the commemoration of Jesus' birth with different customs, many of which have been influenced by earlier seasonal celebrations.

If we look into a little about the history of Christmas we will find some interesting pointers such that during the Middle Ages Christmas remained a public festival, incorporating ivy, holly, and other evergreens, as well as gift-offering. It is one of the most celebrated occasions and brings glee and joy to a great number of individuals

The Build Up To Christmas

Christmas Eve, the day before Christmas is very special, when people eat rice porridge and plum fruit juice in the morning. Christmas songs are sung and then the gifts beneath the tree are shared out. The children adore this and for many of them it is there main reason for loving Christmas so much, knowing that they will be getting those super presents that they have been yearning for.

Santa

Probably one of the most important things about Christmas, particularly for children is Santa Claus. No matter where in the world, Santa plays a big part alright. In Western culture, where the holiday is characterized by the exchange of gifts among friends and family members, some of the gifts are attributed to Santa Claus (also known as Father Christmas & Saint Nicholas.

The popular image of Santa Claus was created by the German-American cartoonist Thomas Nast (1840-1902), who drew a new image annually, beginning in 1863. Father Christmas, who predates the Santa Claus character, was first recorded in the 15th century, but was associated with holiday merrymaking and out and out drunkenness.

The current tradition in several Latin American countries (such as Venezuela) holds that while Santa makes the toys, he then gives them to the Baby Jesus, who is the one who really delivers them to the children's homes. Although many parents around the world routinely teach their children about Santa Claus, some have come to reject this practice, considering it deceptive.

For what it's worth though, I just don't think Christmas would ever be the same without Santa. At least certainly in my abode it wouldn't.

Stories

Many fictional Christmas stories capture the spirit of Christmas in a modern-day fairy tale, often with heart-touching stories of a Christmas miracle. There are stories of Christmas and the Christ Child, holiday music for singing along and much more. There will always be some kind of story to tell at Christmas and that is very welcoming and joyful.

It is necessary for people to stop, breath in, and open their eyes to the amazing wonder of the festivity season. Folks need to comprehend that Christmas didn't start out as a reason to get gifts. It started out as a method to get more people to worship Christ. Sure, the Church was a little misguided and deceptive in its attempts, but what has passed is past and no one can change what has happened. It is up to people, today, to rethink their motivations around this sacred holiday. Are they buying gifts so that they don't feel guilty or because they truly want to be gracious? Are they visiting the poor and needy because they want to feel better about their own circumstances or because they are humble enough to realize that it could be them that are poor and needy? Are they inviting family over for turkey and mashed potatoes because it's their turn and they didn't want to let the family down or because they truly and honestly want to be surrounded by people who love them?

As you can clearly envisage, there are a number of separate reasons that people celebrate Christmas, but celebrating Christmas out of selfish and greedy terms is only tainting the true meaning- sacrifice of the purest kind.
