Will a tank cover and light on my 10 gallon fish tank help keep it clean and the fish happy?

My fish tank gets disgustingly dirty after about two weeks. I change the water with fresh bought store water since I have well water. I put all new plants, gravel and have a bunch of mollys. I clean the filter every two days. My husband thinks that adding a fish tank cover and a light may keep it cleaner and make the fish happier. I have a 10 gallon fish tank. My live in granddaugher wanted pets.

What you are doing is completely wrong

Your tank should of been cycled first of all and when you say dirty its either your over stocked your filter is not working properly or your mistaking a bacteria bloom as your continuously changing the water every 2 weeks as dirty water.

How many fish are in the tank?

You should also not clean the filter every 2 days it will never get a supply of bacteria if you do this so stop?

You need to look at the bigger picture and work out why the tank si getting dirty?

Adding a cover wont help but it wont do any harm!
